The Neighborhood:

Just one block from King Street, a fashionable and vibrant shopping area, this house is perfect for those keen to be close to the action, yet have a quiet place to stay.

The King Street shopping area has three distinctive areas; a design and dining district, a fashion district and an antiques district, so there’s plenty to buy and see!

The street where the house is located is very quiet and picturesque and is one of the oldest in Charleston. Guests can sit on the balconies and relax and take in the views of the surrounding nature and sometimes passing horse-drawn carriages. You’re also within easy walking distance from the city’s many landmarks and attractions.

Getting Around:

Located one block from King Street, this home is the perfect location for access to great stores, restaurants, and attractions. On the other hand, this home is also perfectly located on a picturesque street on one of the peninsula's earliest streets in downtown Charleston; you can soak up the Charleston charm on the parlor porches and watch the horse drawn carriages pass by.

Other Things to Note:

We’ve restored the original Antique Heart Pine floors and 10 fireplaces (!) all with original cast iron surrounds and many with their original mottled fire-glazed tiles. High ceilings, a beautifully refinished interior staircase, many original moldings, comfortable front and side porches, and wainscoting throughout the house really bring back the look and feel of the turn of the century.

Each room is finished with attention to detail – the lace curtains on the many windows and French doors are all based on designs popular from 1890-1930 and the doors are all fitted with cast iron rim locks and either original white glazed ceramic door knobs in the “public” room or beautiful brown swirled Bennington glazed ceramic knobs for the bedrooms. Throughout the house you will find family portraits & oils, antique tapestry crewel-work and vintage rugs, antique slag glass, milk glass, and converted Victorian oil-lamp light fixtures, fine linens and plenty of down pillows, and vintage glass and ceramics.

All placemats and tablecloths are provided for the guest to use.

All of the fireplaces are for decorative purposes only. They are non-operable.

Relax on the breezy front or side porches overlooking the front yard and enjoy the genteel lure of one of Charleston’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods.

Amazing Experience!

Was very happy with our experience. Had a group of 12 arriving at different times and this place worked out great. It was difficult finding an affordable place for 12 in a good location and was lucky to find this one. Couldn't ask for a better location- market across the street had great breakfast and lunch and convenient if you needed a quick drink or snack. Walking distance to King and East Bay meant we didn't have to call a cab or uber to go to the shops and restaurants. The place was clean, nice updated bathrooms, and owner was easy to work with. I sent a text message saying I would arrive a couple hours before check in and it was no problem for them. I sent a text message asking if an air mattress was available and on my arrival an air mattress was there. When a couple of us were there a bit after check out waiting for our rides to airport and the cleaning service showed up it was not an issue (they even offered to wait outside or comeback later but we obviously told them they could start while we were waiting and they purposely started upstairs while we waited downstairs). Would definitely recommend this place mainly based on the location and the host!
