Location

When kids are involved, not just any location will do – you’ll want to make sure you’re choosing a home in a safe location that’s welcoming for kids. You may want to stay away from busy streets so you don’t have to worry about lots of people walking by. Likewise, noisy streets near bars will likely not do once the kids are in bed. You’ll also want to be near major points of interest so you can casually navigate Charleston with kids. Downtown Charleston is extremely walkable, but it’ll be much easier if you’re already close to the action.

Parking

If you’re staying in Downtown Charleston, choosing a vacation rental that offers on-site parking is such an advantage. The last thing you want to do after a busy day is drive around looking for a parking spot – especially with little ones. Having designated parking makes everything that much easier.

Sleeping Arrangements

When you’re selecting a home, take a look at the sleeping arrangements. Many homes are thoughtfully designed with kids in mind, with bunk beds and bunk rooms they’ll love. If you’re staying with multiple families, having some separation between the bedrooms can be a plus as well.

Pools

If you’re staying Downtown, houses with pools will be limited. One of our favorite vacation rentals for families in Downtown Charleston is Mint Julep – with the largest pool Downtown. If you stay in Folly Beach, you’ll have more options for pool time with kids, plus you can walk to the beach. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Outdoor Space

Outdoor space in Downtown Charleston isn’t the easiest to find – but it can be such a nice feature when you’re visiting with kids. There’s something so charming about relaxing on a South Carolina patio while the little ones play outside. So be sure to explore our Stay Duvet homes with outdoor space and fenced-in areas.
